William Shakespeare Animated
I created this animation in the Spring of 2008 using Carnegie Mellon’s Alice, a free, educational 3D animation tool. Editing, titles, and music were all added using iMovie 06 HD, Apple’s free movie editing software. This project meets the first National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for teachers as defined by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). By modeling my interpretation of a scene from Julius Caesar, I could next ask small groups of students to re-enact a scene as they see it. This supports collaboration, constructivist learning, and higher order thinking skills in an engaging lesson.
Additionally, this project would also require students to meet the following ISBE learning standards for English:
1C Students can comprehend a broad range of reading materials.
2A Students can understand how literary elements and techniques are used to convey meaning.
5C Students who meet the standard can apply acquired information, concepts, and ideas to communicate in variety of formats.
Moodle Login Screencast
This short screencast was captured using Jing Pro for Mac, and was created to help students learn how to log in to Moodle, a free, open-source course management system that had been recently installed on our district server. As a pilot teacher for Moodle, I wanted to make sure the students were able to log in with minimal troubles. This movie was meant to help them do that by using technology to engage.
This screencast, and the Moodle project that it helped set up meet NETS standard 2, Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences
